The PTFE seal is a very compact seal. It consists of a reinforced PTFE ring and an elastomer ring. The sealing is provided by the PTFE ring being pushed against the sealing surface by the elastomer. We can make this type of PTFE seal using pure PTFE, PTFE Carbon, PTFE Graphite, PTFE Bronze or PTFE Glass (see materials section). Advantages of this type of PTFE seals are:

PTFE Seal TP1 is for piston head. It consists of a reinforced PTFE sleeve supported by an O-Ring, which distributes a sealing load to the sleeve. It is suitable for light to medium duty, double-acting system. Operating pressure of 200 bar and surface speed of 1.5 m/s |

PTFE Seal TP2 is for piston head. It consists of a reinforced PTFE sleeve supported by a rectangular elastomeric energiser, which distributes an equal sealing load to the sleeve. It is suitable for medium to heavy duty, double-acting system. Operating pressure of 350 bar and surface speed of 1.5 m/s |

PTFE Seal TP3 is for piston head. It consists of a elastomeric ring in the outer groove of the PTFE sleeve to prevent drifting. The sleeve is energized by a rectangular elastomeric ring. Operating pressure of 350 bar and surface speed of 1.5 m/s |

PTFE Seal TP4 is for piston head and it is a double-acting seal. It's function is very similar to PTFE Seal TP3. The double O-ring is to support the large cross section of the PTFE sleeve. Operating pressure of 350 bar and surface speed of 1.5 m/s |

PTFE Seal TP5 and TR5 are single acting seals. They consists of a step profile to increase sealing efficiency. The step prevents pressure build up between seals. PTFE Seal TP5 and TR5 are usually used with a secondary seal, i.e. arranging one seal behind the other, thus providing double-acting seal configuration. Operating pressure of 400 bar and surface speed of 4 m/s |

PTFE Seal TP7 and TR7 are double acting seals and they are suitable for use under demanding operating condition where the reduced extrusion gaps (< 0.05 mm) enable operating pressure of up to 800 bar. Surface speed of 1.5 m/s |

PTFE Seal TP8 and TR8 are double acting seals and they can be used for simple and light-duty cylinder designs. The sealing effect is provided by the O-ring pushed against the PTFE sleeve against the sealing surface. Operating pressure of 350 bar and surface speed of 1.5 m/s |

PTFE Seal TP9 and TR9 are double acting seals that a groove is specially created in the PTFE sleeve to fit an O-Ring. The groove minimises extrusion of the O-Ring under pressure. Operating pressure of 350 bar and surface speed of 5 m/s |

PTFE Seal TP54 is for piston head and it consists of 4 piece components - two hard plastics ring (blue) to prevent extrusion, a special profile elastomer (grey) that energizes the reinforced PTFE sleeve (light blue) under pressure. This design can be used up to 400 bar, and a surface speed of 1.5 m/s |
